Course Description

This course targets teachers interested in learning Spanish to bridge the communication gap between them and their Spanish-speaking students and their families.

  • Lesson 01 – Speaking, Spelling, and Counting in Spanish
    Learn how to pronounce Spanish words and start building vocabulary by learning to count from 0-9.
  • Lesson 02 – Colors, Gender in Spanish, and More Counting Words
    Learn the Spanish words for a rainbow of colors, count up to 199, and learn fun facts about the culture of Latin America.
  • Lesson 03 – Talking About People
    Learn how to say the names of all your student’s relatives and put words into conversational phrases and sentences.
  •  Lesson 04 – Words for Talking About “Who” and “When”
    Explore pronouns, an important building block of Spanish vocabulary, and learn how to talk about the months of the year and the days of the week.
  •  Lesson 05 – Directional Words, Questions, and Prepositions
    Super-charge Spanish sentences with new power words – prepositions, words for directions, and three new words for asking questions.
  • Lesson 06 – Verbs, Verbs, Verbs!
    Explore “easy” verb tenses and delve into the difference between the “to be” verbs ser and estar.
  •  Lesson 07 – Off to School! Survival Phrases for the First Day
    Add to the repertoire of Spanish survival phrases, discover a simple way to ask key questions when enrolling new students, and master the skill of how to tell time in Spanish.
  • Lesson 08 – Conversing in the Classroom
    Learn vocabulary for common classroom objects and activities and learn valuable adjectives that will come in handy both in and out of the classroom (and hone one’s communication skills).
  • Lesson 09 – Words for Talking About School Rules and Feelings
    Learn how to answer the “How are you feeling today?” question, and explain the following: classroom rules, regulations, and instructions to students.
  • Lesson 10 – Vocabulary for Teaching and Learning
    Learn vocabulary for teaching, learning, and performing related actions. Also, explore vocabulary builders to use to explain concepts in English, math, science, and history.
  • Lesson 11 – Visiting the Cafeteria, Playground, and Nurse’s Office
    Learn key vocabulary words for assisting a student in the cafeteria or on the playground, and for talking about the medical emergencies that sometimes happen on campus.
  • Lesson 12 – Making the Parent-Teacher Conference a Success
    Learn key vocabulary words (for describing your students’ strengths, pointing out areas where they can improve, and praising their achievements) to facilitate parent-teacher conferences with Spanish-speaking parents.
